History

The story of TRYGG-chains started when a young engineer named Alf Nøsted arrived to Mandal to take position of the technical advisor at "Mandal's Nail & Wire Rope Factory" in 1927. After years of building his expertise within wire drawing technology he decided to establish his own factory. With the help of local investors "Norsk Kjettingindustri as - Alf Nøsted" commenced production in May 1939.

The founder's son - Arve Nøsted took over as the CEO in the middle of 1950's. The company experienced two decades with substantial growth and expansion. New and better technology was regularly introduced. New, fully automatic stud welding machines for tire chains were installed about 1970. It gave a huge competitive edge to the company and contributed to its further development.

In the 1980's the company name was changed to "Nøsted Kjetting AS". Over the years chain export grew, first to Europe and then to North and South America. Gradually exports became the most important sales volume for TRYGG chains. The significance of the North American market was reflected in the 1983 acquisition of "Chaine Select inc." in Quebec, Canada. After difficult years in the beginning of the 1990's Nøsted Kjetting came back on growth path, thanks to high quality products, new technologies and further acquisitions.

The production capabilities were significantly strengthened after establishing Nosted Mechanika in Lithuania (2003). Competitive minded and experienced staff contributed to rapid growth of the Lithuanian operation eventually becoming the largest part of Nøsted Group.

Today, the factory and the Nøsted Group is led by 3rd generation of Nøsted family - Alf-Arne Nøsted - the founders grandson.
